$650K Award to Couple Rear-ended by Rye Cop Overturned by Judge
An arbitrator made decided the couple should get damages, but the City of Rye appealed.

A $650,000 award to a Dutchess County couple injured when they were rear-ended by an unmarked Rye police vehicle in 2012 was overturned.
A state Supreme Court judge reversed an arbitrator’s decision that favored Louis and Lynne Jeanette over Rye Detective Joseph Verille and the City of Rye, according to an article at lohud.com.
The original lawsuit state Verille was going north on I-684 near Exit 8 in North Salem when he collided with the Jeanettes’ car.

The arbitrator awarded the couple $650,000 Aug. 1.
The City of Rye appealed the decision which was overturned Dec. 3 by State Supreme Court Justice Mary Smith.
