Local Rye Designer Entering the National Stage
I'm a Rye-based wedding dress designer of Winifred Bean. October 13th I introduce my dresses to the world when I go to market in NYC - Here's my story!
Hello!
I’m Angela, a Rye-based owner and designer of the wedding dress line, Winifred Bean. I am on a journey to launch my collection and introduce my designs to brides across the country.

My mission? To provide high-quality, beautiful yet wearable gowns for the creative, stylish bride. A dress that when the bride puts it on, she feels she can conquer the world. Stylistically I am designing a line of cool, classic, stylish gowns but in addition to that, the line is interchangeable. Tops and bottoms can be mixed and matched to create the perfect dress.

And now I have the chance to take my line to the NYC Bridall Market this October and introduce my line to hundreds of stores. To get there I have turned to Kickstarter to raise the funds I need to officially launch. Kickstarter is a very cool, on-line fundraising platform that allows people to back projects they believe in. For me it allows friends, family, and strangers who believe in my small business to make donations to my campaign.
The campaign only last 30 days and if I don’t make my goal of $15,000 I get nothing. But so far it has been amazing! Through social media and a very supportive network I have already passed $9000 with 5 days left on the campaign. Proceeds from the campaign will go directly to cost of taking the line to market.
Kickstarter is an amazing way to raise money for small businesses but also helps to market the brand. Already through the campaign I have had a popular website, Daily Candy, contact me to feature my dress line in their wedding guide.
It has also allowed me to partner with local businesses to cross promote. Thursday night, I am hosting a fundraiser with Wine at Five in Rye with all proceeds from the wine tasting going towards my fundraising campaign. I get to spread the word about Winifred Bean’s fundraising and Wine at Five will introduce their lovely wines to new potential customers.
Developing my line, working with Kickstarter to raise money and promote my brand and gearing up to take the line to market has been such a great experience. I look forward to the many adventures I have waiting for me as I grow my little dress line.
I appreciate support from locals and neighbors - click here to checkout my Kickstarter site.
