City Of Rye Forms Committee To Advise On Possible Tunnel

The governor has proposed a tunnel that would link Long Island and possible Rye.

RYE, NY — With talk about Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s proposal to build a tunnel linking Long Island to the Sound Shore, the City of Rye has formed the Long Island Tunnel Advisory Committee. The seven-member committee was established at the city council’s Feb. 8 meeting.

No appointments to the committee have been made, but it will be comprised of two council members, two members of the Traffic and Pedestrian Safety Committee and three residents, the Journal News said.

Residents who are interested in applying can email the mayor by Feb. 28.
