Connecticut Man, Alleged to be High, Arrested in Rye with Steroids

The arrest occurred following a three-vehicle accident on I-95.

A 28-year-old Norwalk, Conn. man was arrested by state police on Sept. 27 on charges of impaired driving following a three-vehicle crash on I-95 in Rye.

State police said the 2015 BMW Jerman Ortega was driving rear-ended two vehicles, and during the investigation he was ”found to be impaired by drugs.” No injuries were reported.

Additionally, Ortega was found to be in possession of steriods and Ketamine, ”a Schedule III Controlled Substance and is a medication used mainly for starting and maintaining anesthesia,” according to state police.

Ortega was transported and processed at the state police facility in Tarrytown, where he was evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE). He also submitted to a urine sample to determine the drug content in his system and was charged with:

  • Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, Unclassified Misdemeanor
  • Criminal Possession Controlled Substance 5th Degree, Class D Felony
  • Criminal Possession Controlled Substance 7th Degree, Class A Misdemeanor

Ortega was arraigned at the Town of Greenburgh Court, but the exact status of his arraignment was not disclosed.
