Concert and Tour to Inaugurate the Library’s New Tech Center

The Rye Free Reading Room invites the community to celebrate the official opening of the library's Nicholas & Christina Raho Technology Center with a tour and fun family concert on Sunday, September 19.  From 1 to 4 p.m., Rye families and friends are invited to take a look around the Center and learn what it has to offer.  To highlight the special occasion, Chris Barron, former Spin Doctors lead singer and songwriter, will perform with the Time Bandits on the Village Green from 2 to 4 p.m.

The new Technology Center was solely funded by a private donation by Nicholas Raho and a building grant.  It offers the Rye community a central gathering place to use computers at no charge for research, job searches, resume writing, database access, email and fun and games.  In addition, it is equipped to hold a variety of computer training classes.  The library is very fortunate to have Mr. Raho's generous gift in memory of his late wife Christina, who was very fond of visiting the library.

Chris Barron launched his solo act with Pancho and the Kid and soon will release a follow-up album entitled The Summer of Sangria. He is best known for his work with the Spin Doctors, whose debut recording Pocket Full of Kryptonite sold more than 10 million units worldwide and contained the Billboard "top five" songs "Little Miss Can't Be Wrong" and "Two Princes." Barron's catchy hooks, sincerity and a vocal tone that is recognizable all over the world are winning audiences all over again in his new career.
