The SUNY Purchase Community General Assembly invites you to discuss the goals of Occupy Wall Street and to generate strategies for actualizing our dreams for the future of American Democracy.
“Where is this movement going, and what do we want to accomplish?” All are welcome to share their ideas, listen to the ideas of others, and collaborate on creating concrete alternatives to the status quo.
The event will begin with an overview of General Assembly procedures, direct democracy, and the principles of consensus decision-making. Then we will break into small groups for discussion. Topics may include unemployment, political engagement, protest tactics, ideology, healthcare, student debt, revolution, tax code and financial reform. Everyone is encouraged to bring their own topics of conversation.
