
"Organizing the Disorganized Child: Simple Strategies to Succeed in School" will be explored by Marcella Moran, MA, LMHC, at the September 15th Heard in Rye Speaker Series lecture. The lecture will be held at the Rye Middle School Multipurpose Room, at 3 Parsons Street in Rye, starting at 7:30 pm. Admission is free.
Ms. Moran will help answer a common parental question: "How can I help my child get organized without waging a battle?" In her presentation, she will explain the roots of children's organizational problems and parents' role in overcoming them. She will outline different organizational styles used by students and will also discuss:
- How to stop the procrastination and increase motivation
- Averting missing homework and class work
- Easy time management techniques
- Study and test taking skills
- Refining the morning and night time routine
Ms. Moran is an educational consultant and licensed psychotherapist who specializes in ADHD. She is the co-author with Martin Kutscher, MD, of the book Organizing the Disorganized Child: Simple Strategies to Succeed in School (HarperSudio), and has given numerous workshops, seminars and lectures on this topic.
