The Committee to Save the Bird Homestead will present a talk by preservation architect Walter Sedovic on the planned rehabilitation of the historic Meeting House. Mr. Sedovic was the architect for the Rye Historical Society’s restoration of the Knapp House, which is one of the most cherished buildings in the community. He has developed and implemented restoration plans for numerous well-known landmarks throughout the Northeast, including the Vanderbilt Mansion, the Home of Franklin Delano Roosevelt in Hyde Park, the Fire Island Light House, Edison Laboratories, Federal Hall, and Boston’s Old State House, among others. For the past decade, Mr. Sedovic has been in the forefront nationally of linking historic preservation and sustainable practices. Some of the historical treatments to be included in the Meeting House rehabilitation demonstrate what are now considered “green” approaches.
