Residents at Commission Meeting Opposed to Privatizing Rye Town Park

The town asked for bids from outside operators in hopes of turning a profit.

The notion of privatizing Rye Town Park was overwhelmingly opposed by members of the public who spoke Saturday during an open forum.

Improvements to the facility are needed, and town officials said the park has routinely lost money, leading them to ask for bids from outside operators, lohud.com’s Christopher J. Eberhart reported.

The Rye Town Park Commission received five proposals.
