Rye City Council meeting behind closed door Monday morning at 730 a.m. to discuss settling Caspi lawsuit.

After already spending $1,000,000 or so in legal fees and denying wrongdoing for 10 years, why is the City Council looking to settle it now?

Why is the Rye City Council meeting in secret at 730 a.m. on Monday with no RCTV coverage? To keep the public away obviously. Plus there is a public City Council meeting this Wednesday night. Why not discuss this then when the cameras will be rolling?

Transparency? Yup, we can see right through Mayor Sack and his lawyer colleagues.

The Rye City Council has already spend upwards of $1,000,000 in legal fees to Kristen Wilson, her law firm and others so why are they looking to settle this lawsuit now?

The trial starts in lonly a couple of weeks. Why settle now? What is the Rye City Council afraid?

Mayor Sack and the Rye City Council can’t be looking to settle this case to save legal fees because they have already spent upwards of $1,000,000. Also, the only future legal fees would be the cost of the trial which would pale in comparison to what they have already spent.

If Rye knew they were responsible and culpable in the alleged beating of this young boy, why did they wait ten years and spend upwards of $1,000,000 in taxpayer funds on legal fees before discussing a settlement?

Why wouldn’t Mayor Sack and the Rye City Council want what would certainly be their star witnesses, Falk, Connors and Verille, to testify under oath in federal court in front of a jury? They have already testified under oath at their depositions so what could possibly go wrong?

So what other factors may be motivating Mayor Sack and the Rye City Council to now all of a sudden want to settle this case?

Could it be that the City of Rye got caught being less than truthful and other misconduct in federal court and are now looking to protect possible City of Rye misconduct and possible criminal acts by using more taxpayer money to make it go away?

If any City of Rye official, employee or agent committed any act of wrongdoing during any step of this ten year litigation and previous criminal matter, including lying under oath, withholding or concealing evidence or submitting sworn to false affidavits, will they be held responsible (referred to US Attorney?) or will the Rye City Council give out another free pass?

If for some reason Falk is found to have withheld evidence in this case, and this may have lead to this case dragging on for ten years, will Mayor Sack and the Rye City Council seek to recover any of the upwards of $1,000,000 in legal fees from Falk?

Why is Mayor Sack, the Rye City Council, the City of Rye, Kristen Wilson and her law firm defending Robbie Falk in proceedings surrounding this lawsuit and why are Rye taxpayers paying for it when Falk isn’t a named defendant?

Is this why Mayor Sack and a majority of the Rye City Council withheld e-mails and cell phone records of communications between Falk and Wilson or was there another reason?
