School of the Holy Child to Host Four Study Skills Programs for Area Students

School of the Holy Child is proud to host four workshops of its evidence-based Successful Study Skills 4 Students (S4) program. The workshops foster academic achievement by teaching students key study strategies that help them learn and achieve better academic success.

The first workshop Study Skills 100, for students in grades 5 – 8, will be held on Sundays, February 1, 8, 2015, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.

The second workshop Study Skills 100, for students in grades 9 – 12, will be held on Sundays, February 1, 8, 2015, from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

The third workshop Study Skills 200, for students in grades 8 – 12, will be held on Sundays, March 1, 8, 2015, from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

The fourth workshop 12 Ways to Start a Sentence, for students in grades 5 – 7, will be held on Sundays, March 1, 8, 2015, from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm.

The Study Skills Workshops will be held at School of the Holy Child, 2225 Westchester Ave., Rye, NY 10580.

The S4 program is founded on educational research and evidence-based studies. Its highly interactive approach is designed to clearly demonstrate how to apply students’ own curriculum and course material to the taught methodologies and systems. The workshops are taught by experience teachers. Each class is limited to 15 students.

The S4 programs are designed to bolster academic confidence, motivation and preparation as academic workload and expectations increase rise. Skills taught in the Study Skills 100 and Study Skills 200 workshops include: planning, organizing, executive functioning strategies, as well as quiz, test, and long-term project preparation strategies. Skills taught in the 12 Ways to Start a Sentence workshop include: the importance of compositional skills of sentence structure and sentence variety, an approach for writing more engaged compositions, a deeper understanding and appreciation for grammar, a sentence toolbox for writing with variety, and a lifelong love for the art of writing a powerful sentence.

The workshops are each 2-sessions 6-hour and $295. 10% discount for second workshop or sibling, and 20% discount for third workshop, manually credited after registration.

The workshops include all in-class materials, original S4 Teach Sheets for each skill taught, and post-parent emails after each session. Class size limited to 15.
