Sound Shore Health-care Center Receives National Recognition

The award was for superior care to both short- and long-term residents.

United Hebrew of New Rochelle has been recognized for its care by a national organization.

The American College of Healthcare Administrators gave the comprehensive care center its Eli Pick Facility Leadership award.

“It is good to have the validation of respected third parties affirming what we have always felt — that the care we deliver is done in the best possible way,” said Rita Mabli, president and CEO of United Hebrew. “Our healthcare professionals provide superior round-the-clock attention so that we are always aware of what our residents need.”

The skilled nursing facility is part of United Hebrew’s campus, which includes Burke Rehabilitation at United Hebrew, Willow Towers Assisted Living, memory care, independent senior housing, and home care, was recognized for providing superior care to residents whether they are there for long or short stays.

The Eli Pick award is given only to nursing homes that received complaints of pain from no more than 1 percent of its long-stay patients and 8.3 percent of its short-stay residents.

United Hebrew met those criteria for the first three quarters of 2015, with complaints of pain from 0.9 percent of long-term residents and 7.4 percent of short-stay residents.

Both numbers are far below the national averages, which were 8.1 percent for long-stay residents and 17.2 percent for short-stay residents, United Hebrew officials said.

United Hebrew has served the Westchester metropolitan area since 1919, and works now with more than 1,000 clients daily.
