Spirit Beat: Metaphysician Helps Locals Find Their True Spirits
Metaphysician practitioner Michael Rosenbaum creates personal transformation by using the power of the spiritual self.

Have you ever wished for a concrete explanation of things like: soul, heaven, hell or reincarnation?
Believers and skeptics alike have often considered these topics, failing to reach any intellectual understanding. But Michael Rosenbaum, a local metaphysician practitioner, answers these lofty questions as part of his daily work.
Rosenbaum says his primary mission is "to help people on their quests to discover who they are as spiritual beings, how to connect with the highest levels of themselves and how to bring that into their everyday lives."

Though his line of work is mysterious by definition, Rosenbaum has over time become adept at explaining these ethereal concepts.
"Metaphysics is the study of things beyond the physical plane, how to work with them and then manipulate and understand them," he said "It's actually not far-fetched. It's a science that works with realms that haven't yet been measured by normal science."

Many people, Rosenbaum said, dispute anything that is not perceived by the five senses, so it is his job to elucidate extrasensory perception for his students and clients.
"The physical plane is only one small piece of the nature of reality," he said. "It's not that the physical plane doesn't exist. Think of a bicycle wheel when it is still. It has some spokes but is mostly air so that you can put your finger through it; but if you spin the wheel it looks like a disc and when you put your finger inside, it will bounce back. It is similar with the speed of our consciousness. If we could speed ourselves up to close to the speed of light, everything would vanish to our perception."
Rosenbaum defines "spirit" as consciousness.
"Our consciousness lives on many different levels simultaneously," he said. "When our physical body dies, the consciousness doesn't die; it just moves into the astral plane."
And soul?
"The soul is the total consciousness of who you are as a differentiated being," he said. "The soul goes down into the astral plane, the mental plane and the physical plane, so it is the sum total of all of that awareness."
God is often described as transcending time and space, an idea that Rosenbaum has frequently contemplated. "When you consider, as the subatomic physicists tell us, that time is relative, then the idea of a past, present and future are just concepts allowing us to grasp it on the conscious level," he said.
And Rosenbaum's view of reincarnation flows from his concept of time.
"If time is simultaneous, that means there is no such thing as a past life or a future life," he said. "In a sense, they are all going on right now."
To Rosenbaum, that means a soul is in many different places gaining information in a many different ways.
"You could have a part of your soul's essence living in this time period at the same time you are, and that would be called a parallel life," he explained.
Consistent with this reasoning, Rosenbaum believes one could meet oneself walking down the street. And he says he knows people who have.
Accustomed to speaking about the afterlife, Rosenbaum has highly developed notions of heaven and hell, believing our actions have a direct impact on where we'll ultimately end up.
"In the astral plane, there are lower levels of vibration and higher levels of vibration. The lower levels are what is described as Hell. The higher astral levels are beautiful and peaceful, and can be described as Heaven," Rosenbaum said. "So when you die, my teacher would say, 'You go to the address you vibrate at.'"
By this logic, Rosenbaum explains that it is not as if hell were a punishment as much as as a comfort-zone for the negatively-inclined person.
"How you are living right now is what matters," he said. "Are you out there doing service to others and being compassionate and loving? That's a certain vibration. That would be a higher astral level vibration, which has a direct effect on where you will go when you die."
Rosenbaum believes metaphysical teachings have profound implications for our daily lives. In other words, we change our lives through changing our consciousness.
"In everyday life, you have a lot of training in viewing life a certain way," he began, "But there are two things that help people discover who they are as spiritual beings. One is to do meditation and spiritual practice to reorganize your thinking, and the other is to observe and release all of the negative patterns and habits that you develop over this lifetime and in other lifetimes."
To put these into practice, Rosenbaum says one must do things that open awareness and remove the barriers to having that more enlightened awareness.
"Different things become important to you, and you start striving for different things," he said. "You realize that physical things are not that important."
He added:
"I am not saying you shouldn't have money. I like to have money and live comfortably, but it's not that important to me. It's not as important as feeling these other parts of me."
Rosenbaum initially studied hypnotherapy at The Wellness Institute. While practicing as an Advanced Clinical Hypnotherapist (ACHT), he trained in energy medicine at The Barbara Brennan School of Healing Science. To gain an even deeper understanding of mind/body medicine and spirituality, he trained at the Delphi University of Spiritual Studies to become a Metaphysician practitioner.
He has taught meditation and mind/body medicine for 20 years and has more than 3,000 hours of training in alternative healing and spiritual studies. As a hypnotherapist, Rosenbaum facilitates past life and life between lives' regressions. As an energy healer, he helps individuals overcome mental and physical barriers through the practice of mind/body medicine. A major part of his work is preparing patients for surgical operations through guided imagery.
For all who wish to cultivate a deeper understanding of metaphysical realities, Rosenbaum will be conducting a two-day workshop, Introduction to the "Mysteries of Life" this fall in three different locations in Westchester County:
