Steer For Student Athletes Celebrates Fall 2015 Kickoff with Olympic Special Guests

This Saturday, September 19th, the successful non-profit Steer for Student Athletes used a glorious evening at Rye Town Park to host its 2015 Fall Kickoff Event and celebrate its 3rd year of successfully supporting student athletes in the New York public school systems. The event was attended by the student athletes, their families and the growing support network for the rapidly expanding organization. Steer has been operating successfully in the Port Chester school district for 3 years and used the event to welcome new schools and participants from the Yonkers and New York City public school systems.

The Event featured two highly regarded and well credentialed professionals associated with the United States Olympic movement. Rebecca Crawford was the keynote speaker, Rebecca is the Director of International Operations and the Director of the Summer Olympic Games and has over 20 years of experience with the United States Olympic Committee. Her husband, Dr. Tom Crawford, is a board member and founding donor of Steer, Tom is currently CEO of USA Ultimate, the National Governing Body for the sport of Ultimate in the United States and held the position of Director of Coaching for the United States Olympic Committee for over 10 years. The Crawfords provided inspirational perspectives on goal setting, high performance motivation and captivated the student athletes, their families and all those attending.

The primary mission of Steer is to continue to grow and support at risk student athletes and their families to achieve sustainable positive outcomes.
