Suspect in Rye Kidnapping Nabbed In Greenwich After Police Chase

New York law enforcement officials said they pursued the suspect, who was wanted for a kidnapping involving a gun, into Connecticut.

RYE, NY — A 39-year-old New Jersey man, wanted in connection with a Rye kidnapping, was caught following a police chase from New York to Connecticut.

Just after midnight on Thursday, the Greenwich Police Department was notified by New York authorities that police pursued a suspect, who they reported was wanted in a kidnapping with a gun, across state lines into the Town of Greenwich. The suspect was believed to be armed and dangerous.

Greenwich police officers located the vehicle and chased the suspect before losing him in the Cos Cob, North Mianus area. He was later spotted parked on a dead end street. The suspect was identified as Daniel Patrick Twomey of Lodi, New Jersey.

Twomey initially refused to comply with officers’ orders to exit the vehicle. However, after a more than hourlong standoff, officers persuaded him to exit the vehicle and surrender. Twomey was charged in Greenwich with engaging in pursuit and interfering. He was unable to post a $50,000 bond.

Additional charges are expected in the City of Rye, according to police.
