Troopers Need Your Help Getting To Bottom Of Illegal Dumping In Rye

It turns out the piles of debris under the I-95 were not part of the recent New England Thruway construction site after all.

RYE, NY — That rubble that has appeared along roadways in Rye and Harrison isn't what it seems, according to New York State Police.

The New York State Police are asking for the public's help in identifying who is responsible for the illegal dumping of backfill debris along I-95 and I-287 in the city of Rye.

An estimated 17 large hauls of backfill debris were discovered dumped on NYS Thruway property on Jan. 5, Jan. 24 and March 18.

An inspection of the debris showed that they are likely from a construction excavation waste.

Further investigation found a similar illegal dumping occurred within the town of Harrison, along a local roadway, during the same period of time.

State police are investigating this ongoing illegal dumping and are asking that anyone with information contact SP Tarrytown at 914-332-6730.
