Woman Killed By Train In Rye On Wednesday ID'd As Queens 22-Year-Old

Breaking: The Woodside woman was hit by a train at the Rye train station around 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday, according to the MTA.

RYE, NY — Authorities have identified the woman struck by an MTA New Haven Line train Wednesday evening.

The 22-year-old was killed early Wednesday evening after she was hit by a train at the Rye train station, according to Metropolitan Transportation Authority Police Department spokesperson Michael Cortez.

The MTA said that at approximately 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday, an "unauthorized person" on the tracks was fatally struck by a westbound (NYC-bound) train at Rye Station.

As a result, the New Haven Line experienced delays of up to 30 minutes during the incident. The City of Rye Police Department advised residents to avoid Station Plaza Wednesday evening while MTA police investigated the scene.

After her family was notified, the MTA announced that the woman was identified as 21-year-old Aurelia Franchitti of Woodside.
