Brookhaven Town Police Blotter: March 10

A snapshot of some recent police activity in the town.

BROOKHAVEN TOWN, NY — The reports below are excerpts from Suffolk police's 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th precincts that comprise Brookhaven Town.

Criminal charges do not indicate a conviction.

  • A daring burglar — or group of burglars — broke through a wall to gain access to their mark in Coram early Monday morning, police said. The wall of a vacant gold store on Middle Country Road was broken through to get inside an adjacent deli and an undetermined amount of Newport cigarettes was stolen just after 4 a.m., police said. It was not immediately clear the extent of the damage to the building.
  • Someone fired a gun and punched a victim in the face on West Broadway in Port Jefferson on Sunday just before 2 a.m. It is not clear if the victim was injured. No further information was released by police.
  • A Holbrook resident reported on Feb. 28 that someone used his identity to change his bank information and take out multiple credit cards that were used to purchase over $3,000 worth of goods.
  • A home on Rustic Road in Port Jefferson was burglarized on Saturday, according to police. An unknown person used a rear living room window to go inside the home and steal a safe containing passports, two car titles, and other identification documents sometime between 6:21 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., police said.
  • A person reported being punched in the face several times on East Main Street in Patchogue at about 6:20 a.m. on Saturday, police said. The person did not seek medical attention, according to police. No further details were released.
  • A Miller Place man was charged with burglary after police say he broke a glass door at Vincenzo's Pizzeria and Restaurant with a rock and then stole cash at about 1:17 a.m. on Monday. Phillip Lilley, 56, was charged with third-degree burglary, police said. His case was adjourned and he is due back in court on March 11, according to online court records.
