MEDFORD, NY — The colleagues of a beloved Stony Brook University Hospital Medical Center nurse have started a GoFundMe page to help her family in the wake of her slaying.

Sandra McIntosh, 46, of Medford, was heard by a neighbor crying for help, then found stabbed to death in Holtsville on July 23. She was transported for treatment of her injuries to the hospital where she worked for years and was later pronounced dead, police said.

In a post on the page, Emily Emma wrote that McIntosh's colleagues were profoundly saddened and suffering from sorrow over her death, describing it as the "tragic passing of our dear friend, 'work mom,' and colleague.”
