The best odds are north and west of the island.

Christmas is still nine days away, but it’s never too early to dream of a white Christmas.
The odds of Long Island waking up to more than an inch of snow on the ground on Christmas- 16 percent.
That’s based on historical data from the Northeast Regional Climate Center.

According to the above map from AccuWeather.com, the best chance for a white Christmas this year will be well north and west of the island.
A weekend storm could drop three inches of snow upstate and that snow will likely remain on the ground come Christmas, AccuWeather meteorologists say. But here in the metro-area, although rain may be in the forecast early next week, the odds of a white Christmas “remain low.”
