Quintana Brothers Gunning for Monumental End
Tennis duo looking to go out on top, end careers as champions.
When the boys tennis season concludes at Sachem High School East this year, it will mark the end of a significant era in the sports history.
Brothers Jason and Dylan Quintana will have played their final matches and head coach Stefano Massimo is stepping down from his post.
“I made a promise to the Quintana’s that I would coach until they graduated,” he said. “I hope that the players who I have coached had a good experience, whether we had good or bad seasons as a team.”

The Quintana’s have been the faces of the program for the past five years since their eighth grade season. Dylan is a two-time All-County player, while Jason was a four-time selection. Both were First Team All-Sachem Patch selections for the first year that honor was available as well.
Last season, they placed second and third, respectively, in singles at the division tournament, losing only to then teammate and top-seeded Zach Cooper. This season, they are the undisputed No. 1 seed at doubles.

“As brothers, seniors, and now doubles partners, they will be looking to win not only divisions, but counties, and states,” Massimo said.
During the summer, they won the Empire State Games as doubles partners and will be looking to do the same for Sachem East. This would yet again be another first in Sachem East history.
“When playing doubles together, they have an understanding between them that is astonishing,” Massimo said. “It is truly a treat to watch them play doubles. They move in sync and are both deadly not only at the net, but from the baseline as well.”
With one lefty (Jason) and one righty (Dylan), they have no weaknesses. Any doubles team that plays them is already at a disadvantage because they are intimidated by the reputation that precedes them.
“I can’t even begin to tell you what these boys have meant to Sachem East tennis,” Massimo said. “Since eighth grade, they have consistently played head and shoulders above their opponents. If you were to ask me what makes them so special, well besides the obvious fact that they possess an enormous passion for the game and incredible talent, I would tell you that they were true leaders.”
Both brothers have gained a reputation across the county as being fierce competitors. They’ll be looking to make history as the first Sachem tennis players to win a county and state title at Sachem East later this season.
