🌱 Sachem Daily: $2.8B Ronkonkoma Project + Long Island Weekend Events

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Sachem.

Hey, Sachem! Here's everything you need to know to get this Saturday started off right.

First, today's weather:

Mostly cloudy. High: 69 low: 59.

Here are the top 3 stories in Sachem today:

  1. $2.8 Billion project one step closer from coming to Ronkonkoma. On Thursday, the Long Island Regional Planning Council voted in Support of Midway Crossing which includes a sports arena, convention center, hotel, new terminal at MacArthur Airport, and more. The Town of Islip also backs the project. "Midway Crossing will be an innovative office research complex, dedicated to life sciences, along with a sports and entertainment venue, and a hotel and convention center, which will all be easily accessed by train, upgraded road systems and the airport", said Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter. 2. Long Island weekend events. As we head into the weekend, check out everything going on throughout the island. There are many outside activities and something happening for all ages, so click the link to see the full list of events. (Patch)
  3. ICYMI: Man fixing car on LIE Service Road dies in hit-and-run. Two men were struck in Holtsville while working on their car Wednesday night. Ryan Walker and Robert Kehlembeck were working on a 1989 Ford F-150 outside of Walker's home when they were struck by a vehicle. They were both taken to Stony Brook Hospital where Walker was pronounced dead and Kehlembeck was treated for serious injuries. The driver fled the scene and police are looking for the suspect.
