Here are the top stories in Sachem today:
- What to do if you see a spotted lanternfly. The invasive species has been confirmed in Suffolk, and it's important to know what to do if you see one. If you see a lanternfly, take a picture, file a claim with state officials and then kill the bug. You can also make traps, which you can read more about in the link. (Patch)
- Even as interest rates rise, the Long Island housing market still remains hot. See homes for sale in the area along with upcoming open houses in the roundup. (Sachem Patch)
- Selden man charged after crashing Subaru and killing woman on Monday. Anthony Milano, 28, crashed his vehicle into an unoccupied parked Chevrolet van around 2:15 a.m. Paige Swiecicki, 30, of East Patchogue, was seated in the rear of the Subaru and was pronounced dead at the scene. Milano was charged with driving while intoxicated and was transported to Stony Brook Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. (Sachem Patch)
- Police ID victim who was struck Sunday in a fatal hit-and-run. Adrienne Wagner, 67, of Ronkonkoma was struck at 1:30 a.m. Sunday by a Lexus driven by Wade Gagliano on Johnson Ave. She was pronounced dead at the scene and Gagliano fled and was arrested a short time later. (Sachem Patch)
