Sachem Patch Youth Sports Notebook

Sachem Speed takes first at Northport Cow Harbor Columbus Day Soccer Tournament.

The Sachem Speed, a girls U10 travel soccer team, went 4-0 at the 23rd annual Northport Columbus Day weekend soccer tournament.

The Speed had a tough battle in Game 1 against the Hauppauge Hot Shotz, but eventually pulled away winning, 3-1. In Game 2 of the tournament, the Speed passed the ball with precision leading to numerous scoring opportunities. The defense began to dominate and the Speed beat the Manhatten Rapids, 6-1.

Going into the second day of the tournament, the Speed were in the driver's seat and remained focused and came ready to play. Behind a dominant defense and some timely goalscoring the Speed beat the Northport Turf Surfers 3-0. Having already secured first place going into the final game, the Speed took nothing for granted and finished strong. Once again, the entire team buckled down on defense and beat the Smithtown Nitro, 5-0.
