Sachem Speed Girls Soccer on Fire

Under-10 travel team wins winter league; keeping up strong play this spring.

The Sachem Speed girls u10 travel soccer team is off to a strong start in the spring season after taking first place in their winter league, going 5-0-2. 

They opened up their spring season with a 5-0 win over the Port Washington Sandstorm in the Long Island Cup Tournament. They played a dominating game with four different goal scorers and a shut down defense.

They opened up their league season with a tough 2-1 victory over the North Babylon Pride. The Speed scored their first goal in the first two minutes of the game but North Babylon clamped down and tied the game right before the half. Both teams played tenacious defense in the second half with the Speed scoring the winning goal with about 8 minutes to go.

The Speed followed that game with a 5-1 victory over the Newfield Pride. The Speed took control of this game early and never let up.

Assistant Coach Dan Papele said, “ The girls have been training hard and so far it has really paid off on gameday.”

Next up for the Sachem Speed is round 2 of the LI Cup Tournament where they will face the Long Beach Surfettes.
