SCTA Member Reflects On Yesterday's Albany Trip
Marjorie Ayasse joined dozens of others from the Sachem community to deliver letters, speak to state leaders about school aid.

The following statement and accompanying photo was delivered by Marjorie Ayasse, who Tweeted live from the Sachem teachers' union's Twitter account during their all-day lobbying efforts to restore state aid to the district.
"Sachem community members, students, and teacher representatives traveled to Albany Thursday, February 28 in order to lobby for restoration of state aid to the Sachem community. The trip was organized by the Sachem Legislative Committee and sponsored by the SCTA. Talking points included the drastic cuts in state aid - "all Sachem wants is its fair share." In 2013-2014, Sachem is currently slotted to receive the same amount of state aid as it did in 2004-2005. We hope we can count on some restoration of funds with the 203 million dollars that are not yet allocated. Sachem students and parents spoke passionately about their personal "why we love Sachem." We brought a piece of Sachem to Albany and they heard us. Please keep up the letters and faxes and phone calls to Albany. Support our upcoming "We Are Sachem" rally on March 9th."
