Suffolk Court House Facade Goes Aflame From Brush Fire: Police

Strong wind pushed fire against the facade at First District Court in Ronkonkoma. No one was injured.

ROKONKOMA, NY — The facade of a Suffolk County court house went aflame after a brush fire started in some bushes outside on Thursday afternoon, Suffolk police said.

The fire started in front of First District Court on Veterans Memorial Highway in Ronkonkoma at around 2:40 p.m., and the strong wind pushed it against the court house and the façade caught fire, according to police.

The building was evacuated and no one was injured.

Detectives have determined the fire to be non-criminal in nature
