Marykate Guilfoyle, a spokeswoman from Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone’s office, told the outlet on Sunday that officials are continuing to investigate the attack's source and temporary changes have been made to reduce any disruptions while the county's systems are restored.

Several county agencies, like the police department, are keeping records manually, using paper, fax machines, and other methods so that residents can still access what they need, said Guilfoyle, adding, "We’re kind of doing it a little ‘old school’ right now, probably the way the county was run in the 90s."

The county's web and email have been down since Thursday.

Guilfoyle could not say how long the county's websites would be down.

The county's 911 system has remained intact throughout the debacle.
