Town of Islip: Move Your Car Off Roadway

If your car parked in a roadway in the Town of Islip, you may want to hold off on that Ambien and go move it now.

With a winter weather advisory in effect and 3-5 inches of snow expected in the area through Friday morning, town officials are reminding residents that parking vehicles on town roadways in prohibited during times of snow accumulation.

Plow will begin work across the town once their is an inch of snow on the ground. By 7 a.m., 1.5 inches if expected to be on the ground, according to the National Weather Service.

If necessary, cars may be parked on lawns.

The town has the authority pursuant to Town Code to ticket cars parked on public streets during snow removal operations. When necessary, the town may tow vehicles from public streets.
