Here are the top 4 stories today in Sachem:
- Suffolk County Water Authority officials rescind water emergency. Improving weather conditions and less early morning demand led to the decision officials said. "To those of you who responded to the call for conservation: thank you," the authority's Chief Executive Officer Jeff Szabo wrote. "Each and every one of us can make a difference. Your cooperation will help to ensure there is sufficient water supply for firefighting and other emergency situations." (Sachem Patch)
- Sachem High School East Senior Siddharth Sheth is a National Merit Semifinalist. The recognition goes to students who show exceptional academic ability and potential for success in rigorous college studies. Less than 1 percent of students nationwide receive the accolade. Semifinalists who advance to the finals will be announced in early 2023. Learn more about the National Merit Program in the link! (Sachem Patch)
- BP gas station in Islandia robbed early Thursday morning. The incident happened around 1:45 a.m. at 1460 Veterans Memorial Highway. Minutes later, the QuickChek down the street was also robbed. Police are investigating whether or not the two were connected. (Sachem Patch)
- "The Sachem Central School District celebrated creativity, courage and collaboration on International Dot Day, Sept. 15. Based on the book, "The Dot" by Peter H. Reynolds, Dot Day encourages students to "make their mark" and inspires a breakthrough of confidence." (Press Release Desk)
