EMTs, Police Officers Help Deliver Baby Boy In Bohemia
Oh boy! The unexpected delivery happened on Monday afternoon.
BOHEMIA, NY - Oh boy! EMTs from Community Ambulance Company and two Suffolk police officers helped deliver a baby boy in Bohemia on Monday afternoon.
Officers John Pitka and Brittany Roche responded to a 911 call for a pregnant woman in unknown distress at 1:10 p.m., Suffolk Police said.
Upon arriving at the scene, the officers found Diana Delucia in active labor in her home on Ocean Avenue.

The two officers then helped EMTs from Community Ambulance Company to deliver a healthy baby boy.
"Mom was originally scheduled for induced labor at Southside Hospital this Friday but her second child could not wait," Community Ambulance Company posted on its Facebook page. "Our crew recognized the severity of the situation, advised the mother that they needed to stay on scene, and prepared to deliver the baby in the home. With the next contraction, Paramedic Melissa Blom coached Mom to begin pushing, and with the first push a healthy baby boy was born at 1:23 p.m."

The mother and baby were then transported via ambulance to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore.
