3 Pigs Escaped From Trailer On Sunrise Highway
The three pigs were found in different locations on Sunrise Highway after they accidentally escaped from a trailer Friday morning.

SAYVILLE, NY — Suffolk Police officers rescued three pigs that escaped from a trailer on Sunrise Highway in Sayville Friday morning. Sergeant Theodore Martinez was driving a marked police car eastbound on the highway, near Broadway Avenue in Sayville, when he saw what he thought was a pig on the side of the road.
Martinez then saw a Hummer, with an attached trailer that was open with one pig inside. The sergeant pulled over the Hummer and the driver told him she was transporting four pigs to an animal rescue and was unaware three pigs had escaped.

Sergeant Peter Hansen, Officers Michael Sheehan, Brian Drew, John Jantzen, Patrick O’Callaghan and Alison Hall also responded to help. With assistance from employees of the Sayville Animal Hospital and employees of the Town of Islip, they found all the pigs at separate locations on Sunrise Highway between Bohemia and Sayville.
