Assailant in Grey Horse Tavern Attack Gets 8 Years in Prison
Male who beat musician at Bayport bar has pled guilty to first degree attempted assault.

A 26-year-old man has pled guilty to attacking a musician last year at the Grey Horse Tavern in Bayport and has been sentenced to eight years in prison.
Police say Jalaluddin Khojandi, of Hicksville, beat Michael Hargreaves, 40, with a crowbar as Hargreaves left the Grey Horse Tavern around 4 a.m. after a performance on July 31, 2011.Ā
Hargreaves suffered a skull fracture and head cuts, according to police reports.

According to the district attorney's office the defendant pleaded guilty to attempted assault in the first degree.Ā District Attorney Thomas Spota said in addition to the upstate time in a correctional facility, Khojandi will serve five years post release supervision and a permanent order of protection was issued for the victim.
The district attorney's office said Khojandi was mad about issues involving a relationship with a female who attended the Hargreaves performance.
