Bayport Man Charged With DWI After Arrest on Southern State Parkway: Police

BREAKING: The 19-year-old was pulled over early Monday morning, police say.

A 19-year-old Bayport was arrested on a DWI charge after being pulled over on the Southern State Parkway in Nassau County early Monday morning, State Police said.

According to police, a trooper was patrolling the Southern State near Exit 17–Hempstead Avenue when a vehicle passed his marked unit at a high rate of speed around 12:40 p.m.

The trooper also observed the vehicle, a black Cadillac, changing lanes unsafely without using turn signals. police said.

While interviewing drver, John Testa, the trooper noticed that Testa had slurred speech and bloodshot watery eyes, police said.

Testa failed sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested for DWI (alcohol and drugs), police said. Testa was also charged with traffic violations. He is due in court next week.
