Brinkbilt Fitness to Shutter

After seven years, owner says he needs to focus on other businesses.

After seven years in business, Brinkbilt Fitness of Sayville will be closing its doors on Jan. 31. Patch recently spoke with owner Ben Brinkmann. “The rumors are true, we will be shutting our doors at the end of the month,” he said.

However, Brinkmann is quick to point out the shuttering of the business is not due to economic hardships. “It really just got to be too much – the hardware business has grown so much over the past seven years that I really need to focus my attention on that end of the business.” Brinkmann is also owner of , located next store to the gym as well six other stores in the area.

“We have no immediate plans as to what will happen to the gym,” he said. “We have talked about expanding the hardware store and it is something we would like to do in the future. But right now, there are no plans set in motion.”

Members are still able to use the gym through the end of the month and Brinkmann said many members are disappointed with the closure. “The gym always did very well and we have very appreciative of all the support and business the Sayville community has brought to us.”
