About the book: Altars in Abandoned Houses is a short story collection that explores the strange, dark things that sit a step beyond the ordinary world that we live in.
About the author: John Collins was raised in the mean streets of Sayville, NY where he never encountered monsters or ghouls but kind of wished that he had. With influences of 80’s Splatterpunk, low budget horror films, and loud music, his short fiction has appeared in Even in the Grave, Fear Forge, Soul Scream Antholozine and other anthologies. 'Altars in Abandoned Houses' with Long Island horror author John Collins 

Harmony Café is a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing people together through wellness, nutrition education, and community programs.
Our Healthy Cooking Classes are open to anyone who wants to learn more about nutrition, healthy eating, and simple ways to add more plant-based foods into everyday meals. These free classes are made possible through a Whole Foods Foundation grant and are designed to be welcoming, educational, and hands-on.
Classes will be led by Sara Siskind and Heather Beahan, who both have strong backgrounds in nutrition and healthy cooking. Participants will learn practical cooking skills, nutrition tips, and affordable recipes they can make at home.
Each participant will prepare their own dish during class, allowing for a hands-on learning experience. Each class will also include cooking instruction, nutrition education, and a shared tasting experience.

This is the rescheduled event from June 26th)We are joining forces with our friends at New Hour for Women and Children to write letters to people in prison and jail on the July 10th at 7pm.We also have all the supplies you need to write a letter- pads of paper, pens, envelopes and stamps.Why write letters to people in prison. The United States is unparalleled historically and ranks among the highest worldwide in its dependence on incarceration. (Over 2 million people in state and federal prisons and jails). Over five million people in total are under supervision by the criminal legal system. Of these, nearly two million people, disproportionately Black people, are living in prisons and jails instead of their communities. People in prison are people from our communities and deserve support, consideration and communication with the outside world.This event is free. 277 Railroad Avenue, Sayville, NY 11782.Parking is either behind the store in our well-lit parking lot or at the LIRR parking lot across the street.This event is co-sponsored by New Hour for Women and Children.New Hour for Women and Children was founded to provide meaningful support to current and formerly incarcerated women, their children and families. We build community to promote successful re-entry and lasting reintegration, and to reform unjust criminal justice system policies. We empower directly impacted people to utilize their lived experiences to create lasting reforms to the carceral system.

Ebb and Flow, the art of John Cino and Lisa Stanko, is the exhibit at the BAFFA Art Gallery in July. Exhibit hours are Noon to 4:00 PM weekends July 11, 12, 18, 19, 25, and 26, with an artists’ reception on July 11 from 2 to 4 PM.The exhibit is free though donations are welcome.
The BAFFA Art Gallery is located in the historic Gillette House at 47 Gillette Avenue in Sayville.

About the book: A love letter to a franchise and a thrilling study of New York City, Metropolitans traces the electric and calamitous history of the New York Mets. Metropolitans is for Mets fans, New York partisans, and everyone interested in the Mobius strip dynamic of sports and politics, the history of the national game, or the beautiful contradiction of baseball itself: a middle-class game owned by billionaires, in which the players—like the spectators—look to traverse the diamond and ultimately safely escape its many dangers.
