Join two local horror authors to celebrate their spooky new releases just in time for Halloween! Bram Stoker Award recipient, James Chambers, author of A Bright and Beautiful Eternal World and On the Night Border, will be reading from and discussion his new anthology, ABANDONED: ASYLUM. Inspired by the ruins of the King Park’s Psychiatric Hospital, the book includes more than 50 photographs taken by James over the past three decades. Anthony Justice Labriola, local author and filmmaker, screenwriter of The Legend of Spring Heeled Jack, will be reading from and discussing his new gothic novella, BEACON ON DARK SHORES, set in a Long Island lighthouse.

James Chambers is a Bram Stoker Award® and Scribe Award-winning author and a four-time Bram Stoker Award nominee. He is the author of the short story collections A Bright and Beautiful Eternal World, On the Night Border and On the Hierophant Road; the novellas, Kolchak and the Night Stalkers: The Faceless God, Three Chords of Chaos, and The Dead Bear Witness, Tears of Blood, The Dead in Their Masses, and Eyes of the Dead in the Corpse Fauna series. He also wrote the original graphic novel, Kolchak the Night Stalker: The Forgotten Lore of Edgar Allan Poe and has edited several anthologies, including Abandoned: Asylum, Under Twin Suns: Alternate Histories of the Yellow Sign, and Where the Silent Ones Watch. His website is: jameschambersonline.com.

Anthony A. Labriola is a monster maker by trade, crafting terrors for the page, stage, and screen. His company Sophisticated Lions is responsible for such nightmares as the regionally produced puppet production of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Ghosts of Goresthorpe Grange and the Halloween comic book anthology A Book of Scary Stories. His award winning creature feature screenplay The Legend of Spring Heeled Jack is picking up traction as it comes to the end of its festival run. Most recently his debut novella Beacon on Dark Shores is set to be released on his 35th birthday 11/1/2026 by Letter Lantern Publishing. A fun fact about Anthony is that for five years in a row he was nominated for Long Island’s best personality but only lost because Billy Joel has an unfair advantage.

Parking for Tiny Raccoon Books is behind the store or across the street at the free LIRR lot.
