Dog Days of Summer Event a Success

Town event offers free micro-chipping.

Islip Town Supervisor Phil Nolan recently announced that the Dog Days of Summer event was a great success.

Islip Councilman Gene Parrington was also present at the event, where roughly forty dogs and a dozen cats were adopted. The event offered free micro-chipping, and patrons were able to take advantage of the Town’s recent decision to permanently waive the adoption fee at the shelter.

“The final numbers are truly impressive, and are exactly what the Town Board had in mind when we passed the measure to waive adoption fees,” said Supervisor Nolan.  “I think we have the best staff of any shelter on Long Island, and it truly showed during this event.”
