Downtown Street Work Continues
DPW hopes to have all downtown parking lots re-paved before the busy shopping season.

The Chamber of Commerce has been spearheading an effort to in downtown Sayville and Gene Murphy, Town of Islip Planning Commissioner, has spent time with the chamber to develop an overall plan.
One of the first steps started recently with in the area. The Town of Islip's Department of Public Works (DPW) started on Oct. 30 and paved South Main Street between Gillette and Collins. The next streets that were re-paved were Lincoln Avenue, sections of Johnson Avenue, Lakeland Avenue, Foster Avenue and Terry Road.
According to Rich Baker, DPW Commissioner, the repairs will continue as long as the weather cooperates. "We are doing our best to cause as little disruption as possible to the merchants. If the weather holds up, we should be able to complete all the parking lots in the downtown area before the shopping season. This will include re-striping and new signage," said Baker.
