SAYVILLE, NY - An electrical fire caused by the storm early Thursday damaged two businesses in Sayville. The fire started at the Parkville Plaza Deli on 154 Lakeland Avenue at about 2 a.m., according to a post on the business' Facebook page.

The blaze resulted in water damage and smoke damage to Sayville House of Flowers/Neil's Cards and Gifts right next door.

Sadly, the fire destroyed most of the deli. As a result, the deli will be closed until further notice.

"We thank the Sayville and surrounding communities for their continued patronage and are doing our best to have the deli up and running as soon as time will allow," the post reads.

It is not known if any injuries were sustained in the fire.

Ajay Shah, owner of the Sayville House of Flowers said he awoke to a flurry of messages and rushed to the scene at about 2:45 a.m.

At that time the fire was still under control and the fire marshal as well as the arson detectives were still investigating.

Shah says he was told the fire started the deli and totally destroyed in the back of the business. His business also sustained enough damage that will force him to shut down the shop for repair.

He estimates it will be about two to three weeks before his shop is operational again.

Following the terrible fire, Shah says he has received tons of messages on social media with words of support from the community.

"I guess that's why Sayville is such a great place," he said. "Everybody has been so supportive."
