The Sayville Fire Department and Community Ambulance were alerted to a fire on Alfan Drive at about 10:35 a.m, said Miller, adding that fire crews found a fire in the kitchen when they arrived, and it was “quickly extinguished.”
No one was home at the time, but the pet did die in the fire, he said.
