Headed to Corey Beach? Stop by Flo's Famous Luncheonette

Flo's Famous Luncheonette was established 81 years ago, and with its historic roots and small down charm, it may just last another 81.

Flo Kimball opened Flo's Famous Luncheonette in this old-fashioned beach hamlet in 1929. After Kimball's death in 1950, the business was bought and continued to thrive, it has since become a community staple.

Flo's employee and Bayport native Patrick Stressler discussed the changes he's seen over his seven year's at Flo's.

So what keeps him working at Flo's summer after summer? "I enjoy working with the same staff and seeing the same faces every year. The same customers come back," he said.

Although Flo's clientele basically stays the same, with new additions of course, the building and surrounding property has undergone some changes in the past few years, according to Stressler.

A stone walkway and decorative wooden lighthouses have been added to the establishment. The menu has also received a makeover: the list of available meals has nearly doubled since Stressler first started working at Flo's. "There's something for everyone now," he said, though he said his Flo's favorite is the chili.
