Long Island Maritime Museum

A photographic tour of one of Sayville's historic sites.

The Long Island Maritime Museum was founded in 1966 and is located on the historic West Sayville waterfront. The museum, once part of the Meadowedge estate of Mr. and Mrs. Anson Hard, is now part of a mission to preserve the rich history of the Great South Bay as well as its booming aquaculture industry.

You'll find historical boats and buildings on this beautiful waterfront property, including the Frank F. Penney Boat Shop, The Rudolf Oyster House, historical clamming boats and the famous oyster boat, Priscilla.

The Long Island Maritime museum holds annual events such as the Boat Burning event in the Fall, the Seafood Festival in August and the Kite Festival in September. You can visit their website for specific dates and times. www.limaritime.org
