Man Dies in Oakdale Crash After Suffering Possible Medical Event

BREAKING: It happened Tuesday evening, police say. A woman in another vehicle suffered a minor leg injury.

OAKDALE, NY – A man was killed in an Oakdale crash Tuesday evening that may have occurred after he suffered a medical event, Suffolk Police said.

According to police, the man was driving east on Montauk Highway when his 2015 Prius crossed over the westbound lane, and struck an unoccupied parked vehicle at a strip mall located at 949 Montauk Highway at about 6:45 p.m.

The unoccupied vehicle then flipped over and struck a parked vehicle that had two people inside, police said.

The man driving the Prius was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead. The female driver struck by the unoccupied vehicle suffered a minor leg injury and refused medical attention. Her male passenger was uninjured.

The man who was killed suffered trauma in the crash, police said. The Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office is investigating the cause of death. The man's name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
