Police Seek Help in Counterfeit Bill Use at Best Buy

A man used counterfeit $100 bills at the retail store and had a female driver accomplice, according to police.

Suffolk Police are seeking the public's help in identifying a man who used counterfeit currency at the Best Buy store on Sunrise Highway in Patchogue.

According to a Suffolk County Crime Stoppers alert, the incident took place just before the Christmas holidays, on December 17 at about 8 p.m. An unknown white male bought items at the store with counterfeit $100 bills.

The man then left the store and fled in a silver SUV driven by a female wearing a long dark coat and a dark colored hat.

According to police the male suspect had dark hair and was wearing a short black jacket and black pants.

There is a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
