Sayville 2022- 2023 School Budget: What You Need To Know

Residents will be voting on the budget and school board trustees on May 17. Here's what you need to know.

SAYVILLE, NY —On May 17, voters in the Sayville School District will head to the polls to vote for the district's proposed 2022 to 2023 budget.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Old Junior High School.

The proposed 2022 to 2023 spending plan is $99,302,157, an increase of $2,324,099 from the current budget, or 2.4 percent. The adopted budget contains a tax levy increase of 1.72 percent.

Residents will also vote on a proposition to authorize the expenditure of up to $15 million for roof work at five buildings in the district, as well as possible installation of air-conditioning in the high school auditorium.

Several people are running for three spots on Board of Education this year:

  • Maureen Dolan (incumbent) is being challenged by Alia Richards.
  • Mark Ruf and Christine Sarni are running for the seat of Norman deVenau (incumbent), who is not seeking re-election.
  • Kelly Sack (incumbent) is running unopposed for the two-year term remaining on the seat of Keith Kolar, who resigned early from his position and was replaced by Sack.

A budget hearing will take place on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m., at the Administration Building, located at 99 Greeley Ave.
