Sayville Has A New Biggest Loser

The 10-week competition to lose the most weight is completed.

There is a new Biggest Loser in Sayville – Tova Abrams. made the announcement in the beginning of April after a 10-week competition for members to lose weight. Just shy of 80 pounds were shed by the women of Curves to get in shape by spring.

Abrams exclaimed, “I don’t quite believe it, but it feels good. I started at Curves year ago and since then I have lost about 60 pounds.”  How did she become the Biggest Loser?  “I come here three times a week and eat healthy vegetables, fish and less fat.” To stay active Abrams also takes the Curves Zumba classes, bowls and rides her bike around town.

Sharon Boyle, owner of Curves, was thrilled with the results and said, “You never really know until the end who is going to win. Tova looks like a new woman and she looks fantastic. The ladies always love the Biggest Loser competition and beg me to do it again.”

Boyle attributes even more weight lost to the Curves Circuit with Zumba. “It definitely speeds up the weight loss because you burn more calories and with the strength training of the Curves machines you build more muscle. Muscles burn more calories, so you get healthier. Remember, 30 minutes three times a week is all it takes to change your life.”

The money that was raised from the Biggest Loser will go toward purchasing a stretching machine for Curves and a donation will be made

Sayville Patch was through the Biggest Loser contest – Sayville residents Susan Fish and Anna Duggan.

Fish was the eighth Biggest Loser and got rid of 13 pounds. “I was hoping to lose more, but I am headed in the right direction – slow and steady wins the race. I feel really good working out at Curves and seeing all the same women every week.  It is such a friendly place.”

Coming in as the ninth Biggest Loser was Anna Duggan. She lost 11 pounds and said, “Being part of the contest made me more conscience to go to Curves and held me accountable.  Otherwise I would probably slack off.”  The Curves Circuit with Zumba helped Duggan in the competition, “I really enjoy the Zumba.  It makes me feel better and it really gets you sweating.”

Members have said that the Sayville Curves is a gym and so much more because of extra effort Boyle puts into it for the ladies. Here are some of the things going on at Curves.
