Shear your Salon Selection: Where are the Best Places for Hair?

See what local beauty salons offer around Main Street in Sayville.

Among the myriad of chic shops and delectable dining in the Sayville area, there is also a bustling beauty business. One cannot walk down Main Street without passing a multitude of hair salons and barbershops. How do you know which one will give you more bangs for your buck? Whether you are looking for a haircut at a fair price, or a salon that will let you indulge in some pampering, we've highlighted a few of the local mane managers around town to help you make your decision.

If you want a hip place to get your hair done with a sweet staff, Capozzi & Co. Salon at 63 Main St. could be right for you. With a stark black and white theme and blow-dryers dangling from the ceiling, the music pumping matches the ambiance. Their unique apprentice program allows stylists to build their clientele by charging $15 cuts and 20% off color done by an apprentice. A flat rate of $28 is for men, but women will pay per stylist ranging from $30, $45 and $59 to be cut by owner Ralph Capozzi. "We don't want people to be intimidated," Capozzi said. "It's our service that keeps them coming back."

Fun is what you will find at Divinity Salon, 62 Railroad Avenue. Upbeat staff awaits you in this zen hair salon. The prices for a WCB (wash, cut and blowout) are: women, $40-45; men, $20-25; children $10-15. Coupons are mailed out to clients around the holidays. Top Hat, found at 99 Main Street, encourages their customers to watch the ball game on the tube while they get a buzz cut. Some customers have been coming to Top Hat ever since their first cut, which gives it a small-town feel. Boris' Barber down the block at 21 Main Street, offers $3 off to new customers and a card where your fifth cut is half-price. Monday through Thursday, seniors can get a cut for $8.
