Sylvan Avenue Elementary School Reveals New Renovated Library
The school recent renovated the library to include larger floor space, updated furniture, new carpeting and upgraded bookshelves.

BAYPORT-BLUE POINT, NY - Sylvan Avenue Elementary School recently hosted a celebration in honor of the completion of the renovation of the school's library media center.
Principal Alane Dugan first welcomed all attendees and thanked the people who were instrumental in the completion of the project. The renovations included a larger floor space, updated furniture, new carpeting and upgraded bookshelves.
"The newly renovated and expanded library is beautiful space for you to explore, learn and grow," she said.

The event included a ribbon cutting ceremony conducted by Bayport-Blue Point Superintendent of Schools Dr. Timothy P. Hearney and Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Dr. Theodore Fulton using ceremonial scissors to cut the ribbon strung at the library entrance.
The project was part of the district’s community approved bond, which also brought updates to the district’s other elementary and secondary libraries.

During the ribbon-cutting ceremony, it was also announced that Sylvan Avenue Elementary School won the Bayport-Blue Point Public Library’s Summer Reading Program for having the most participants and greatest number of books read during the summer vacation.
In total, 6,982 books were read during the summer, with 32.8 percent of all Sylvan students participating.
For the honor, the school received a commemorative trophy, which will be displayed in the library. Sylvan Avenue’s top participants in the program were Samantha Hauser, Skylar
Johnson, Christopher LoSardo, Michelle Rosenzweig and Ava Stumpf.
