Time Tunnel Antiques Opens on Main Street

Housed in the former home of Miss Molly's, the shop offers something for everyone.

When closed down a few months ago, the space didn’t remain vacant for long. The old Victorian house from the 1800s now has a new occupant and it appears to be a perfect fit for both. Time Tunnel Antiques opened its doors on Main Street on June 15.

Owners Peter and Kevin previously ran an antique shop in Queens for the last 20 years. They live in East Patchogue but dock their boat in nearby Sayville. After leaving their Queens location, the two became part of a group shop, more like a co-op, in Patchogue for the last five and a half years. When the space in Sayville opened up, it was the perfect fit.

“It’s a 100 year old building – what better place to have an antique shop?” Peter asked. “It’s owned by the people who own the diner next door and for years one of their aunts also lived here.” There's a tenant who rents the space upstairs.

While the shop has only been open for a few weeks, business has been surprisingly good, they said. “Since we really haven’t done any advertising or anything, we are happy with how business has been,” they said. The store is waiting for another license before they start advertising to the public.

The owners also said they have many loyal customers and connections from Queens and Patchogue who made their way to the new location. “People just know us and they just call us when they are looking for something,” Peter said.

While shoppers will find a wide array of antiques, their specialty is definitely estate jewelry. You can find anything from collectibles to coins to antique phones and record players to toys, signage, and more. Wandering through the different rooms in the house will lead your eye to the many different treasures. They get most of their goods from auctions, tag sales and estate sales.
